The funeral arrangements for famed comedian Bernie Mac are set for Saturday, according to family members and reports from Chicago newspapers.
The public memorial service for Bernie Mac will be held on Saturday at the House of Hope Church, which is located at 752 E. 114th St. on the South Side of Chicago, where Mac was born and raised. The megachurch, which is affiliated with Salem Baptist Church, holds 10,000 people.
There is a private funeral for Mac, whose real name is Bernard Jeffrey McCullough, on Friday in Chicago. However, the location has not been released to the public.
Mac, the famed actor/comedian, died Saturday at Chicago’s Northwestern Hospital at age 50. He was pronounced dead Saturday morning after complications with pneumonia.
Mac was best known for his roles in “The Original Kings of Comedy,” “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Ocean’s Twelve,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Guess Who,” and “The Bernie Mac Show”.
Mac had recently finished work on Soul Men, an upcoming film starring Samuel L. Jackson and Isaac Hayes.
Hayes also died this weekend, passing away last Sunday of a stroke at age 65. Hayes was found dead inside his Memphis home. Hayes’ funeral will take place in Memphis on Monday.
